Each and every one of my wonderful friends for being so good to me this last week. Bekah, thank you for flying out here to be with me, thank you Scott for trying to, thank you Rebecca for driving up and taking care of me, thank you to all of my BYU roommates for sending the most enormous bouquet of roses ever. It looked like somebody in our house had just won the Triple Crown. So gorgeous. And thank you to all of you who sent messages of love and support. I am so touched by the things you said, and I feel so very loved. Thank you.
It was a lovely service. Her brother George gave the eulogy, my nephew Sam accompanied my niece Sydney on my mom's guitar (a 1932 Gibson, now mine. Will start guitar lessons soon.), and all of us kids gave a little talk on different aspects of the gospel that my mom taught us. I think it went very well. Lots of tears, but also a lot of laughter, which you would expect at a service for "Looney Eunie," as she called herself.
Since my dad was a Navy veteran, she was buried in Tahoma National Cemetery, which is totally beautiful. Check it out:
That's Mt. Rainier in the background. My mom LOVED Mt. Rainier.
As you approach the cemetery, there is this street sign:
That sign just became a whole lot truer this week.
Anyway, I wanted to say thank you for all of your expressions of love and sympathy. I have the best friends a girl could ever hope for, and you have all been such a comfort to me. Dad and I are doing well. It is strange to not have her around anymore, but the memories are so thick around this place that I swear I can still hear her trying to guess the answers to Wheel of Fortune puzzles and warning me about the dangers of nose picking, her two favorite activities.
Once again: Thank you.

Wow! What a beautiful place with Mount Rainier in the background.
There is a little cemetery across the street from the University of Utah Football Stadium. My dad used to say he wanted to be buried there. My mom wouldn't agree though because it would be to noisy with all the football games and the 4th of July Fireworks going on there.
Love you Randi Jo. I am flying you here or bringing my cookies up to the Northwest whether you like it or not.
And we are playing phase 10.
I have grandparents at that cemetary too and it is such a beautiful place! On memorial day, it is so amazing!
I am so sorry that I could not make it to the service, I probably would have been the biggest baby. At my sister's dad's funeral, I was such a crybaby. Even my mom says, 'why do you cry so much, Are you ok?' uhhhh because its a funeral!!
You are in my thoughts and my prayers, we still need to go to dinner or lunch or whatever! Are you back at work?
That really sounds like a perfect funeral - tears, but also laughter. I also think it's really neat that her guitar was played and that you each spoke on something she taught you. Perfect. I'm sure it was lovely. And what a beautiful cemetery. How neat that your mom gets to be in such a nice place. I'm glad it all went well. We are still thinking of you and praying for you. I'll call again soon. Love you.
Aw, Randi. What a lovely place! It sounds like the funeral service was lovely and you really celebrated your mom's life. I know it's hard to miss her, but I'm so glad you were able to spend so much time with her over the last few years.
Love and hugs to you.
I'm so sorry to hear that your Mom Passed away. My thoughts and prayers are with you Randi.
Wade.
