Hey, there, Dr. No-discernible-body-fat! But the verdict is in: Daniel Craig is the best James Bond ever. I only have one criterion: Who looks the hottest in a tuxedo? Clearly the swimsuit competition was anything but:
In his defense, that was probably a very sexy look back in his day.
So all that remains is the evening gown competition. Let's start with Mr. Connery, the first Bond, the man who set the standard:

Then we have George Lazenby, who barely counts 'cause he only did one movie:

Does he even know how to shoot that gun? Do any of them so far? On to Timothy Dalton:

I'm sorry, but this guy wears the S*** out of a tuxedo. (Mr. Craig's is by American designer Tom Ford. Suck it, Armani!) His tuxedo can be in a total state of dishevelment, and he still out-tuxedos those other punks by a MILE.
Oh, and he's a pretty good actor, too. But who cares?

hahaah, your post was so funny, that it's almost acceptable to forgive the blasphemy that Shawn Con wasn't the best bond of EVERY category EVER!
well, to give credit it's due, you are talking about 'sex appeal' so, I guess I can sit out casting my vote in that category - but still - I'm shocked, just shocked, to think that Shawn Con doesn't win them all!

I know, I feel bad dissing the original. It does gnaw at my conscience a little. Let me say this: as far as legend goes, nobody will ever be more iconically James Bond than ol' Sean Connery. That's the best I can do, though. I'm sorry.
I agree with Wade, but had to recall that you were speaking of Bonds from a style/sex appeal angle. Conversely, I think the Bond girls are hotter the further back you go, compared to the Bond style getting better as time goes on. For me, he doesn't hold a candle to Eric Bana. Craig also needs to put another 3-4 movies on his resume before anyone starts talking about where he belongs in the Bond pantheon. But Casino Royale is in my top 3 of all-time Bond movies; not so much Quantum.
What's your favorite Bond movies, or were you too head-in-the-clouds drooling over the actors to notice script, action, cars, etc.?! Gotta go with "From Russia With Love."

My research continues: I've Netflixed all of the Bond movies, and will reveal the results of my exhaustive research in the coming months. So far, I can say it was hard watching "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" without snickering, since it apparently served as the inspiration for every Austin Powers gag. It was difficult to watch it and appreciate it on its own merits, knowing full well what it would give rise to.
I like what Daniel Craig had to say about the character itself. He wants you to ask yourself, "Is he the good guy, or is he a bad guy who just happens to be working for the good side?" I think he brings a complexity to the character that his predecesors didn't. It was a very different atmosphere of filmmaking back then, though. You wanted your bad guys and good guys clearly defined. Again, I'll have more to say as my research continues. Hopefully I won't have to sit through too many Timothy Dalton sex scenes. Yucky.
Skip the Timothy Dalton movies. And take a pass on anything with Roger Moore except for "Live and Let Die" and the wonderful, cheeky "The Spy Who Loved Me," (which has the best Bond theme song, Carly Simon's "Nobody Does
It Better"). This short-cut will save you time, money, and boredom. But be my guest if you want to suffer through "Moonraker" or "The Man With the Golden Gun" or "The Living Daylights" just for the sake of it!
And yeah, Bond has evolved over time as filmmaking and audience preference has shifted from good guy/bad guy to the dark hero, which I'd argue started with Bruce Willis in "Die Hard."
Let me know what you think of trash like "Octopussy" and "Die Another Day"!--timo
I dont really know if I should admit this, but here goes... I saw Quantum of Solace and that, I think that was only... the 3rd Bond movie I have ever seen. You can redact your friendship now if you like.. hee hee or you can educate me in the ways of Bond. :);)

I was just being nosy and reading your blog. First of all, you are funny gal! You like a lot of the same things I do.
Secondly, you lived in Boston? That's awesome! I lived in Bedford. Actually, I lived on Hanscom AFB, but went to Bedford High. When I saw the Kimball Farms cups, my heart jumped. It was a long time ago~while I was in high school, but I loved it there sooo much!
Thirdly, you do an awesome job with the Primary music. The kids all love you!

Ok Red Delicious -I will agree that Mr. Craig is very very easy on the eyes - but I have to remain old school and defer that Sean Connery is the standard to set all Bonds to. But your presentation was so clever and funny (is that the personality competition? miss congeniality?) that I will agree to disagree with you.
