Cutest Dog Ever

And he's mine! OK, technically we got him to be a companion for my elderly dad, but I'm the one forking out all the cash. Dang, pets are expensive.

He's a Maltese-Lhasa Apso mix, and so far, a very good dog. Except for the pooping on the carpet. And the constant chewing of valuables. I had to replace my laptop power cord last week. (Thank goodness for E-Bay! Those thieving scoundrels at Dell were going to charge me $80. I ended up paying $10.)

Anyway, adorable, right? I know! He came with the name Maxwell, but nobody could agree on another name, so we just kept it. He probably has no idea what his name is, though because I usually end up calling him "Maximus," "Puppy Dawg," or "Dr. Pupper." We are all in love with him. I'm probably going to cry when I take him to get his doggy nuts chopped off next month.

Anyway, again, on an unrelated note, we didn't win jack squat in the stupid cake competition. We had two, in my opinion, winning entries: one was a Lovely Bones cake. We replicated a Vogue magazine cover, only the supermodel was a skeleton. The articles advertised on the cover were actual articles from Vogue: "Shedding the Last 5 Pounds" and "When Size 4 Is Too Big," among others. It looked great. The other one was a cake decorated to look like a diary with a picture of Vienna Sausages on the front. We called it "The Diary of Canned Franks." Carrie's idea, and a freaking brilliant one. Not even an honorable mention. Maybe some day when I calm down I'll tell you about the stupid entries that DID win. But not now.

Bekah, I loved your Joy Luck Club idea. Next year, definitely.

Anyway, that's my random post for today, dear readers. Until next time!

Cute puppy!

Our cat has about 75 different names. Tiny (the real name), Tiny Whiny, Kitten, Dr. Pookittles, Pooper Johnson, etc. I've determined that it's really the tone of voice he responds to.

While I appreciated the picture of the dog, I was profoundly disappointed at no pictures of the cakes. Don't let me down, Randilicious.

(And thank you for you comment. Oh how I'd love to just run on over to your house and have a chat.)

I, too would love to see pictures of your creations. Beautifully made pastry (I don't need to see pictures to know that part)AND commentary on our society's obsession with body image? What kind of idiots did they have judging this competition?

Enjoy the dog. He is certainly cute. I refuse to get any pets beside the beta fish Phoebe got for her eighth birthday and killed via slow starvation. I don't feel too guilty when plants and fish die. But I think I would feel really bad about killing a mammal.

We're going to be heading your way for a week or so in the middle of July. Please say you'll be around. We'd love to see you!

That dog is so stinking cute! Except when he humps your arm. not cute. but otherwise, adorable little fluff of a creation.

And, I being present at said cake off, YOU WERE ROBBED! It was so very sad. I hope that the tastiness of Dick's Drive In helped a little. But the plus side, your cakes were delicious! As always.

Oh my goodness! He is sooooo cute! Wow! Good luck with the "chewing" thing. Tell Rex that's his job, to watch the dog and NOT let him eat your stuff.

I'm with Mariss... gotta see pics of those cakes. So, now you know what your next blog will be, right?? :)
